  • Count Down

    Hi Folks:wave::wave::wave::wave::wave::wave::wave:

    Here we are, counting the days until we head for the airport. Are we ready? No, of course not! I had to watch the Grand Prix today - as always disappointed to see that DC wasn't placed. Good for young Lewis, on the podium again. He is a star in the making.

    We finally picked up our tickets yesterday. Not before time! We were a little anxious about them. We have bought our Singaporean dollars and our Australian dollars. The exchange rates were higher than we expected. Thank you to good old M&S. The clothes are neatly arranged on the bed in the spare room. Not much more we can do, really. Pity we have to go to work this week. It is a pain but we do have Friday off, so with that, and Monday being a bank holiday - (most of our English customers will have their brollies up as they sit by the seaside)makes for a nice easy week for me.

    I have to go and get in touch with my friend's niece. She is going to be in Cairns when we are there so I have to make contact to make sure we have the right email address. More of this later.

    As most of you know, I have been getting sponsorship for Cancer Link Aberdeen and North (CLAN) I am somewhere in the region of £962 as I type this. I am totally amazed and overwhelmed by the generosity of all of my family, friends and colleagues. I thank every one of you, very much. CLAN were terrific when Ron, my brother stayed their while receiving treatment at ARI. That is the whole reason behind my doing the sponsored climb. Not sure how I will cope with it but with amount of money already pledged, I have to do it. I will need a good long draught of red wine at the end of it!

    Hope this isn't too boring. It seemed like a good idea last week so I will continue on and hope it gives you an idea of how our trip goes.
    Talk soon.

  • Our Australian Adventure

    Hi Everyone - Well, this is a novelty.  I hadn't thought of myself as someone who would create a 'blog' page, never mind have anything to say!

    The only reason I even thought of doing this is all thanks to Michael and Nicola who kept us up to date with all of their adventures as they roamed the world like a couple of nomads, for a year.  They came home, settled back in to their working lives as if they had never been away. How does that work? They will soon have their own pad so no more wanderings for them for a while! I do also have to give credit to 'Blueser' who has kept us all enthralled with the goings on in the Blues household and of course watching the young ones growing and developing has been a great source of amusement and amazement.  They have been gone for nearly a year and a half and we just can't get rid of Colin. We did think that California was far enough away that we might forget all about him; no, no, that will never be the case because his blog link keeps popping up every few weeks and it is compelling reading - keep it up Colin, I really enjoy reading your news.

    We are heading off to Australia on the 3rd of June to attend our Nephew Eddie's wedding.  More of that later. On the way to Cairns we are stopping off in Singapore for a quick 'sling' and of course the mandatory touristy hits like the zoo, Sentosa Island and of course the shopping on Orchard Road.  We will just about manage three days, I think!  After the hectic three days we head off to Cairns for ten days.  We arrive on the morning of the 8th of June and the wedding is on the 9th.  (could have organised that better but such is life).  The day of the wedding we hope to have warm, not humid, (no chance of that - God help my hair) and no rain.  It is winter for the Ozzies but I don't expect to be going snowborading!

    We hope to visit the barrier reef and go fishing and maybe head in to the rain forest.  No firm plans have been made - plenty of time, we have a whole two weeks!  Are we organised?  No of course not.
