Good Morning Everyone
We did the bridge climb last night and what an experience it was! I was pretty terrified for a lot of it and totally in awe for the rest of it. To say it was spectacular would be under selling it. We got all togged up about 3pm and then we started the climb. We had so much gear on I was at least 10 pounds heavier on my way up the bridge than I was before the climb! We had a headlight (for seeing on the way down in the dark), we had a fleece, a hat, gloves, waterproof top, a hankie (clean - supplied by Bridge Climb) our glasses were tied on and we also had head phones and a pack to hear what the guide was saying. There was only three of us in our group - there is normally 12. Because we chose to do the more difficult climb (and more expensive) less people want to do it. I was overwhelmed when we got to the top. The views were spectacular. Then when the sun went down and the lights of Sydney came on, and that was just amazing. We were up there for a good half hour or more because we had to wait for the sun to set. That is what the Twilight Walk is all about. We were really glad that we chose that particular walk as we saw Sydney both in daylight and in dark. I still can't believe I did it. I kept telling myself that it was safe, which of course it is, but the cars and trains screaming past under your feet is a pretty spooky feeling and it made me dizzy just watching it. I could go on about this for hours but I don't want to bore you.
Before we did the climb we went for a boat ride round the harbour. That was brilliant! We saw the sights from a totally different angle and then on the way back they opened up the throttle and we had the thrill of our lives. It was like being on a rollercoaster, but better! We were so cold after that we had to go and get some hot food. Because of the climb we couldn't have a drink, that was a pity because we were both in need of a hot toddy!
Today, Simon is away to the aquarium and I am hoping to get my nails done. Yes, I know, such a girl! (Wifie) We have to leave here at 12 to get out to the airport and start our long journey home. It has been the weirdest holiday we have ever had. We have only been away for ten nights and so much has happened in that time, we feel all out of sorts. We are going up to Inverness on Friday for the funeral and then we are going to relax the following week, try and get our heads together and maybe go to Dunbeath. We need to see Mum as she isn't gong to the funeral. Definately not going back to work early. I do feel bad about that but circumstances are such that we need to do our own thing next week.
Well, I had better go and check my emails.
See you all soon.
Christa
xx
